Munster Juvenile U14 – U19 Track & Field Championship 2017

Athletes took part in the Munster track & field events in CIT over the weekend of 17 & 18 June. In the extremely hot conditions there were some exciting events.

Glory Wenegieme taking gold in the 200m in a new Munster record of 24.49 secs and joint first in the 80m with a silver in the 800m. Billy O’Riordan found the conditions extremely exhausting but put everything he could muster into his events, well done Billy.

Adam Turner qualified for the All-Ireland U15 long jump competition.

The boys U14 relay squad pushed each other to a Munster track record for the 4 x 100m relay. There are 6 athletes on the panel at present, Timmy Hawkins, Sean Carmody, Max O’Reilly, Billy O’Riordan with Glory and Praise Wenegieme. It’s great to see each one pushing the others for a place in the relay so much that it produced a Munster record for the 4 that ran.

Sarah Cooper & Coaimhe Henchy also took part on the weekend and although their training was interrupted by exams they still produced brilliant performances on the day.
