Munster Juvenile U12-U19 Indoor Championships Nenagh 2024

Tuesday evening after competing in Nenagh the sprint was back to Cork to the launch of the newly renovated Permanent TSB offices on Patrick St. Hannah Falvey with the other Cork Youth Olympians Okwu, Senan, Meave and Nicole (who unfortunately was not available to be there)were invited to celebrate the wonderful achievement of them representing Ireland in the European youth Olympics earlier this year and to celebrate PTSB title sponsorship of Team Ireland Olympic and Paralympic Team. They got to meet Paul O’Donovan & Fintan Mccarthy Olympic Gold medal winners and paralympians Jordan Lee and Mary Fitzgerald.

Munster Schools Combined events 22nd Oct. 2022, Nenagh

Yesterday, we had 10 athletes competing representing their individual schools in the Munster Indoor Combined Events with some great results. In the Minor Girls there was Giselle 3rd 🥉Aoife 25th Isabel 24th and Tiffany 4th out of 39.

In Minor Boys, Chucks was 6th out 46 entrants. In the Junior Girls Suzanne came 3rd 🥉overall. In the Intermediate Girls we had Daniella 10th, Rayaa 12th and Hannah 2nd 🥈 overall. In the Senior Girls, Blessing 1st 🥇.

As it is the first four from each age group Giselle, Tiffany, Suzanne, Hannah and Blessing have all qualified for Schools All Irelands on 12th November in TUS, Athlone. Well done tp everyone..it was a long day.

Well Done to all those who took part in the Munster Track & Field Championship today at MTU. After 17 months athletes got the chance to compete against each other.

Well done to Eoghan O’Connor who picked up the first Gold medal in the boys U16 3000m. Then the sprinters got into action with heats, semi-final and final. But medals did come Aaron Gui got bronze in the boys U16, Bobby Cook gold and Praise Wenegieme bronze in the boys U17 while Glory Wenegieme took gold in the boys U18. All these medals were in the 200m. Chucks Onyeka took gold in the boys U13 Shot putt. Darragh O’Connor then took silver in the boys U14 with brother Eoghan also grabbing silver in the boys U16 800m. All medal winners qualify for the All-Ireland Championship. Shane Mee ran a very creditable 2.06.31 mins for the boys U12 600m. Congratulations to everyone you have set a standard for the Girls to follow.

In the U14 200m was Tara Keville who ran a good heat for her first ever 200m race. In the U13 600m Freya Bateman came 3rd, qualifying for the All Irelands. Aoife Cotter, Laura Falvey, Isobel Goggin, Rachel Ledwith and Rebecca O’Neill all ran very well in their U13 600m heats. While waiting for their results they stayed to support Grace Moynihan as she ran in her first ever U14 800m.
